History

  • 2015September

    Foundation

TrustBills was founded in September 2015 as a subsidiary of FinTech Studio (formerly Maravon) by Joerg Hoerster under the strong belief that the markets for factoring, forfaiting and supply chain finance are organized like inefficient flea markets and need to be fixed.

  • 2016March

    DZ BANK Investment

DZ BANK - Germany's second largest bank at the time - invested in TrustBills and acquired 25% of the shares. TrustBills was the very first FinTech-investment for DZ BANK's corporate banking.

  • 2017March

    Deutsche Bank Investment

Germany's largest bank, Deutsche Bank, joined TrustBills with a 12.5% share. Also for Deutsche Bank's corporate banking TrustBills was the very first FinTech investment.

  • 2018June

    Beta Test

Successful launch of the Beta-phase during the second half of 2018. Within three weeks TrustBills reached a state where not a moment passes without an auction any longer.

  • 2019January

    Market Entry

Official market entry. First institutional investors got active on TrustBills and act as market makers.

  • 2019July

    Management Buyout

We suspect it was the classic Challenger-Defender problem. But in the end, we can't say for sure. In any case, it became clear in 2019 that the cooperation between the bank shareholders and FinTech Studio did not work out the way both sides would have liked. The only solution was a management buyout after one of our two TrustBills companies (but not the operational marketplace) had to file for insolvency. In any case, TrustBills is now again 100 percent owned by FinTech Studio and has been taking off ever since.

TrustBills’ Working Capital Finance Forum shows the future of financing daily business operations

Leadership

Digital disruption is not caused by technology alone. It originates from dissatisfied customers and is completed by entrepreneurs who solve problems to the satisfaction or even enthusiasm of customers. So we are not a FinTech company because we simply want to show that we are able to master technology. We are deliberately an exchange for trade receivables, because it helps companies to release capital tied up in invoices in a cost-effective and efficient way, so that companies can use it to work. Capital that works harder and more productively across the board benefits the entire economy and thus everyone.
